Job Title: Inside Machinist 

Location: Rhode Island 

Hourly Rate: Depending on Experience.

Summary: We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with experience in both programming and operating. The ideal candidate will have strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and a solid foundation in mathematics and mechanics. A commitment to safety and quality is essential. The goal of this role is to ensure consistent production, maintain high-quality standards, and contribute to optimizing operational procedures. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Set up, edit programs, and operate CNC milling and turning centers 

  • Inspect and verify parts and configurations against plan requirements using precision measuring tools to high-tolerance standards 

  • Read and interpret mechanical detail and assembly drawings, including GD&T standards, weld symbols, and non-destructive testing (NDT) requirements 

  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications: 

Required: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent OR a minimum of 3 years of relevant technical experience 

  • Hands-on machining experience or completion of formal machining training 

  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, and diagrams, as well as perform basic layout functions 

  • Availability to work all shifts as assigned 

  • Must provide and maintain personal basic hand tools 

Preferred: 

  • Experience setting up and operating vertical and/or horizontal turning centers, lathes, and milling machines 

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills 

  • Experience with Mazak equipment 

  • Completion of vocational, technical, community college, or apprenticeship programs 

  • Training in machine technology or completion of the Shipbuilding/Marine Advanced Manufacturing Institute (SAMI) program 

  • Prior military experience in a related field

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to work 10+ hours per day, up to 7 days/week 

  • Ability to work in both hot and cold conditions  

  • Ability to work in confined spaces if needed 

  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and work at heights 

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and lift up to 20 pounds overhead.
