Job Title: Field Machinist
Location: Various Job Site and Locations.
Hourly Rate: Depending on Experience.

Summary: We are looking for a skilled Field Machinist to operate a variety of machines at various sites and utilities. A great machinist needs to possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail. They must have knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions.

Responsibilities:

  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Read and interpret documentation (work instructions and blueprints) for the setup of various machines.
  • Adhere to all site and company rules, regulations, PPE requirements, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Experience working in an industrial setting with industrial, or nuclear experience considered an asset.
  • A fundamental understanding of machining processes.
  • Proficiency with various field machining equipment including split frames (clamshells), flange facers, boring bars, portable mills, etc.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of documented work experience with field machining
  • Two (2) years of work experience in a machine shop may be considered providing that applicant can demonstrate adaptation of shop machining principles to field machining.
  • Three (3) years of verifiable work experience in the trade (Millwright or Pipe fitter) may also be considered.
  • Have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience with precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read drawings, reference manuals, and assembly instruction guides.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as working as part of a team.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel extensively and work variable hours.
  • Able to pass background screens and drug/alcohol testing as required by our customers.
  • TWIC card a plus.


Physical Requirements

Employees must be able to safely perform the essential functions of "the position" with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

  • Perform sustained physical activity, including standing, walking, climbing, and working extended shifts
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull tools, materials, and equipment weighing a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and work in varied body positions
  • Work at heights and in confined or restricted spaces
  • Work in outdoor and indoor environments under varying weather and site conditions
  • Work on uneven, slippery, or rough terrain in active industrial or construction settings
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including fall protection and respiratory protection when required
  • Maintain situational awareness and communicate effectively to work safely around moving equipment and hazards
