Position Summary
ARC Energy Services is seeking qualified Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technicians to perform inspections and examinations on piping, structural steel, pressure-retaining components, and related equipment. The NDT Technician is responsible for conducting non-destructive examinations in accordance with applicable codes, customer specifications, procedures, and quality requirements while ensuring the integrity and reliability of critical components.This position may support power generation, industrial, fossil, nuclear, manufacturing, and specialty construction projects in both shop and field environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform nondestructive examinations utilizing one or more inspection methods, including:
- Visual Testing (VT)
- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Other methods as required by project specifications
- Interpret and evaluate inspection results in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, and standards.
- Complete inspection reports, examination records, and supporting documentation accurately and timely.
- Verify compliance with customer requirements, quality procedures, and industry standards.
- Identify and document discontinuities, defects, or nonconforming conditions.
- Work closely with Quality Control personnel, supervisors, engineers, and project management to resolve quality concerns.
- Maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration requirements are current.
- Review drawings, specifications, weld maps, and examination procedures prior to performing inspections.
- Support audits, surveillance activities, and customer witness points as required.
- Maintain certifications and qualifications necessary to perform assigned inspection methods.
- Follow all company safety policies and site-specific requirements.
- Travel to project locations as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience performing VT, MT, and/or PT examinations, or a strong background in welding, fabrication, or quality control with a willingness to train.
- Ability to meet ARC's qualification and certification requirements for the assigned methods, including training, experience, and examinations.
- Ability to pass near-vision acuity and color contrast examinations.
- Knowledge of ASME, ANSI, AWS, API, and industry inspection standards preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use computers and electronic reporting systems.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain site access as required by customer or facility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or prior Level II certification in VT, MT, and/or PT under an employer's written practice.
- Working knowledge of ASME (Sections I, III, V, VIII, XI; B31.1), AWS D1.1, and related inspection standards.
- Experience supporting power generation, nuclear, industrial, or heavy construction projects.
- Previous experience with pressure piping, pressure vessels, structural welding, or fabrication environments.
- Current TWIC card preferred.
- Nuclear experience and qualification under applicable quality assurance programs is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and elevated structures.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators when required.
- Ability to distinguish colors, depth, and visual indications necessary to perform inspections.
Work Environment
- Industrial, construction, fabrication shop, and power generation facilities.
- May require overtime, shift work, weekends, holidays, and outage schedules.
- Travel and temporary assignments may be required based on project needs.
