Summary: The Recruiter is responsible for coordinating and fulfilling craft labor staffing needs through union hiring halls in accordance with collective bargaining agreements. This role works closely with project management, union representatives, and internal leadership to ensure qualified union personnel are sourced, scheduled, and mobilized to meet project demands.
The Union Recruiter maintains strong relationships with union halls, tracks manpower requests, and ensures workforce assignments align with union agreements, project timelines, and company standards.
Provide radiological controls coverage for highly contaminated radiological work.
Key Responsibilities
Union Hall Coordination
- Coordinate labor requests with union hiring halls based on project manpower needs.
- Submit manpower requisitions in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Maintain strong working relationships with union business agents and dispatch coordinators.
- Monitor dispatch lists and confirm worker assignments.
Workforce Planning & Staffing
- Partner with project managers, superintendents, and workforce planning teams to understand staffing requirements.
- Track labor demand, start dates, and crew sizes across multiple projects.
- Ensure timely placement of qualified union craft personnel.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure hiring practices comply with applicable collective bargaining agreements.
- Maintain accurate records of union dispatches, start dates, and workforce assignments.
- Verify required certifications, licenses, and qualifications prior to mobilization.
Candidate Communication
- Communicate start dates, project details, and onboarding requirements to dispatched workers.
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements when applicable (drug screens, safety orientation, documentation).
- Serve as a point of contact for union employees prior to project start.
Internal Coordination
- Work closely with HR, payroll, and project teams to ensure proper onboarding and workforce tracking.
- Maintain workforce tracking reports and staffing updates for leadership.
- Assist with workforce forecasting and project staffing strategies.
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of recruiting, workforce coordination, or staffing experience in construction, industrial, or skilled trades environments.
- Experience working with union hiring halls or unionized workforce preferred.
- Strong understanding of workforce planning and craft labor staffing.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
Preferred
- Experience supporting construction, industrial, or nuclear projects.
- Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and union dispatch procedures.
- Experience using applicant tracking systems or workforce management tools.
