Summary: The Project Planner is responsible for planning, preparing, and revising nuclear work packages to support corrective and preventive maintenance, as well as planned and forced outages at the Palisades Nuclear Plant. This role ensures that work is scoped accurately, scheduled efficiently, and coordinated with supporting departments in accordance with nuclear safety and quality assurance standards.
Responsibilities:
Complete work package preparation in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Plan, prepare, and revise work packages using station procedures, vendor manuals, technical specifications, drawings, and engineering documentation.
Support daily operations, forced/planned outages, and refueling outages.
Conduct materials requisitioning and ordering to ensure readiness of work packages.
Assign cost strings in compliance with station financial procedures.
Coordinate with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Radiation Protection, and Work Control to resolve planning issues.
Ensure packages include all required permits, hold points, prerequisites, and post-work documentation.
Must work shifts as assigned, including support during Safety System Outages and Refueling Outages.
Maintain planning documentation and support continuous improvement of planning processes.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (One of the following):
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Nuclear, or Industrial Engineering and 5 years of experience in nuclear planning, maintenance, or operations; OR
Associate’s degree and 7 years of experience in nuclear planning, maintenance, or operations; OR
High school diploma or GED and 9 years of experience in nuclear planning, maintenance, or operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency with Word, Excel, Maximo, SAP, Documentum, and site-specific CMMS tools.
Familiarity with P6, engineering drawings, and NQA-1 documentation.
Prior nuclear site clearance or experience at a commercial/DOE nuclear facility.
Other Requirements:
Must successfully pass all phases of in-processing, including background investigation, psychological screening, and medical/drug screening.
Must be able to complete the site’s Planner Qualification Card.
Must follow all plant safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive planning activities with minimal supervision.
